Programme Note

The biennial St Cecilia Festival Concert brings together three choirs: their all-Russian programme features Rachmaninoff’s dramatic choral symphony The Bells (setting poems by Edgar Allan Poe), the Polovtsian Dances by Borodin and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture in a spectacular choral version.  Shostakovich’s turbulent symphonic poem October for orchestra completes the programme.
