Programme Note

Manuel De Falla’s Three-Cornered Hat (suite no.2) is music from the 1919 Diaghilev ballet, based on a book by Pedro Antonio de Alarcón which tells the story of a magistrate infatuated with a miller's faithful wife.

Our Principal Flautist Hattie Jolly will step forward as the soloist in Jean-Michel Damase’s delightful Flute Concerto.

After the interval we will play Sergei Rachmaninoff’s magnificent Symphony No.2, which we enjoyed working on at a weekend workshop last September.
