Programme Note
aul Carr is Director of Music at St Paul's, Birmingham and Musician in Residence at Holy Trinity, Wordsley, posts which he combines with a busy schedule as a solo recitalist. He has performed on many of the finest instruments in the UK and also in Germany, including in the Orgelpunkt series in Magdeburg Cathedral both this year and last. He has given a recital at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and returns to play a second recital in 2017. There have been several visits to the USA, where Paul has performed recitals in Illinois and at Washington National Cathedral. In April this year he played one of the dedication organ concerts on the new 5-manual Quimby organ in Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church.
Paul’s début solo CD recording French Flavours was released in 2012 on the Regent Records label. Recorded at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham, it has received critical acclaim including a five-star rating in Choir & Organ magazine and Editor’s Choice in Organists Review.
Paul was President of the Birmingham Organists Association for six years until 2014 and in June 2015 was awarded Honorary Membership of Birmingham Conservatoire.
