Programme Note

Join City Chorus, London Orchestra da Camera and professional soloists for performances of Haydn's Nelson Mass and Handel and Brahms pieces.

The 90 voices of City Chorus, with professional soloists and orchestra, will give a performance of Joseph Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (Mass for Troubled Times). Written in 1798, it quickly acquired the nickname “Nelson Mass” due to the British defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of the Nile that same year. City Chorus presents this wonderfully dramatic and energetic setting alongside a selection of movements from Handel’s Messiah and Brahms’s Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen from Ein deutsches Requiem.

Doors open at 6.45pm for refreshments and the performance starts at 7.30pm. There is a paid bar before the concert and during the interval.

Please note that there is step-free access to the venue, but no reserved seating.
