Programme Note

The 46th Academy of St Thomas season begins with three attractive works including the wonderfully lyrical romantic Bruch Violin Concerto played by the stunning young violinist Julia Hwang. The vibrant Italian symphony by Mendelssohn was inspired by the colour and atmosphere of Italy during his Europe tour in 1833.

Timothy Henty, a new face to AST audiences, will be conducting this concert. Still in his thirties he is quickly developing a strong international reputation both on the concert platform and in the theatre.
