Programme Note

‘For Christina’ - a concert celebrating the life of Christina Warner who played cello with Helix Ensemble for many years.

Helix Ensemble is returning to play in Countesthorpe and bringing some very popular pieces for small orchestra, including Malcolm Arnold’s Serenade, Bruch’s Kol Nidrei for solo cello and orchestra and the Italian Symphony by Mendelssohn. You can hear this beautiful, sparkling music on Saturday January 14th 2023 at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church, Countesthorpe.   Our concert is conducted by Dan Watson and the cello solo is played by Anne Mee, both of whom are from Leicestershire.  The fourth piece in the concert is a short Symphony by Prokofiev written in a classical style and full of fun and rhythmic excitement.

A feast of wonderful music when we will be remembering one of our regular cellists, Christina who died suddenly last year.
