Programme Note
Christmas is approaching, and alongside the sparkling lights and shop windows festooned with promises of the perfect present, it also brings an opportunity to sing some of our favourite music.
Pinsuti will be singing some wonderful choral favourites such as “In Dulci Jubilo”, the “Zither Carol”, “In the bleak Midwinter” and “Bethlehem Down”. We will also be singing a range of fabulous modern music, including Mealor's “A Spotless Rose”, Lauridsen's magical “O Magnum Mysterium” and works by Sandström and Gjeilo. For those who have watched and enjoyed the film “Frozen” you may recognise the sound (if not the name) of “Eatnemen Vuelie” by Fjellheim.
Weaving solos, trios and quartets into the varied full choral pieces, this promises to be a soul-warming celebration of the music of Christmas. The evening would not be complete without a dash across the Atlantic for two lively American carols, bringing their energy to wish us all well for Christmas.
