Programme Note
Kingston Philharmonia is excited to end its 50th Anniversary year with this special programme.
Back in 2013, Kingston Philharmonia commissioned Paul Patterson to compose a violin concerto, 'Serenade for Violin and Orchestra', in memory of Sylvia Green (then a dedicated member of the Orchestra). The piece was especially written for the then Leader of Kingston Philharmonia, Clare Howick. It is Kingston Philharmonia's greatest honour to invite Clare to perform this Concerto with the Orchestra after 11 years.
The evening opens with Smetana's Vyšehrad (The High Castle), the first symphonic poem from Má Vlast (My Homeland).
The Anniversary year ends with Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony, known as "Fate".
