Programme Note

Kew Sinfonia invites you to join us for our spring concert - in essence, a presentation of musical tributes.  Curated by our conductor Daniel Hogan in honour of his teacher and mentor, composer Matthew Taylor, who recently celebrated his 60th birthday, we perform pieces chosen to reflect Matthew’s love of music.

Through the medium of themes and variations, we explore how composers are influenced and inspired by previous great masters, as we play works by romantic composers Brahms and Reger which pay homage to the genius of their classical forbears Mozart and Haydn.

We are delighted to welcome soloist Sarah-Jane Bradley to perform Matthew Taylor’s own viola concerto, reprising her 2011 premiere of this work which was written especially for her.  Don’t miss this chance to experience the beautiful, sonorous tonal qualities of the viola, all too rarely heard as a solo instrument.

We look forward to a wonderful evening of performing celebratory music for you!  Book your tickets now to secure your place.
