Programme Note
“Revel in the gorgeous sounds, the spellbinding music, the programmes with something for everyone.” – John Rutter
We are delighted to be making our Irish debut in Dublin, performing works from our third album, Fading, in the beautiful setting of St David’s Church.
Since the fourth century, the service of Compline has marked the end of the day, ushering in the darkness of the night. Much of the music here is inspired by this ancient service, featuring a selection of atmospheric works that relate to the transition between light and darkness.
Featuring two world premieres by Irish composers:
Fall, leaves, fall by Eoghan Desmond, and The Blue Bird by Anselm McDonnell
alongside Gesualdo Illumina faciem tuam, Gombert Media vita, Joanna Marsh Fading, Owain Park Phos hilaron, and works by Tallis, Lobo and Judith Bingham.
“The Gesualdo Six are outstanding, shifting impeccably from Renaissance polyphony to twenty-first century music.” – Seen and Heard International
