Programme Note

A lunchtime recital inspired by the life and works of the renowned Elizabehan courtier/poet/soldier and his relationship with Lady Penelope Rich who was his muse - she was the inspiration of his monumental sonnet cycle "Astrophil and Stella" which was his most famous work. The programme combines settings of poems from this work with pieces relating to both parties and some of their relations.
