Add to my Calendar 30-07-2016 19:30 30-07-2016 21:30 36 Plymouth Philharmonic Holiday Choir PLYMOUTH SOUND HEADING NORTH The sight of an audience rushing the stage to get at the 'act' is familiar at rock gigs but for it to happen after a concert of classical music is very, very rare, if not unique. But that is exactly what was experienced by the Plymouth Philharmonic Holiday Choir on last summer’s visit to France. The two concerts there can only be described as a triumph.  Each year fifty or so members of the PPC take their music on the road and later this month they will be hoping to wow audiences again during two concerts in the Bradford and Leeds area. The Phil’s programme includes John Rutter’s Feel the Spirit along with a number of his anthems and organ solos by Father Tim Lewis. The concerts are also a nostalgia trip for several choir-members with Yorkshire connections. Conductor Christopher Fletcher hails from Pudsey, and baritone Mark Boocock is a Yorkshire man. Mark will provide the solo in Vaughan Williams’s Five Mystical Songs. When he performed for the Phil. in France a visibly roused audience demanded an encore. On Friday 29th July at 7:30 the choir will be singing at Saltaire United Reformed Church and on Saturday 30th July at 7:30pm at St Chads in Far Headingley. The Saltaire URC admission is £5 (£4 concessions), St Chads ask for a donation to the church please.  Enquiries: 07815071445 St Chad's Church, Leeds DD/MM/YYYY
