Programme Note

A variety of specially-chosen works to usher in the Christmas season, including Britten’s much-loved Ceremony of Carols, with international harpist Gabriella dell’Olio.  Both she and virtuoso flautist Anna Noakes head their departments at London’s Trinity Laban conservatoire, and will perform works by Bach and Rota, and, with the singers and by popular request, Klatzow’s  evocative “Three Carols in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary”. Those who have heard the magical combination of Seraphim with the sounds of harp and flute at Blythburgh last year, and earlier this year at Framlingham, will know that the audience will have a special seasonal treat in store!  The concert is preceded by a reception to mark the launch of the new Southwold Music Trust, which is supporting the Concert Series and is one of the Southwold Town Mayor’s chosen charities for this year.  All concert goers are welcome to join the reception at 6.30 pm in St. Edmund’s Hall, Cumberland Road.  The concert itself begins at 7.30 pm.   Tickets are £12 for the reception and concert.
