Programme Note

BAFTA award-winner Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd) and Samuel West (Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell) star in an extraordinary new play by the creator of Posh, Laura Wade, with music performed by a quartet of players from Aurora Orchestra. Inspired by Tolstoy’s great tale of sexual jealousy, ‘Kreutzer vs Kreutzer’ goes behind the closed door of the music room into a world of ungoverned passion. Featuring full performances of Beethoven’s Kreutzer Violin Sonata and Janácek’s String Quartet of the same name, the show explores the love triangle between three great works and asks if music really can drive a man to murder.
