Featuring works by Biber and Schmelzer, the ensemble blends the martial sound of trumpets and drums with inventive and reflective pieces for strings – a showcase of all the pomp and majesty of an Imperial Court at the height of its powers. From Fux’s vibrant depiction of the siege of Vienna, to the taverns and gun-shots of Biber’s famous Battalia.
