Programme Note

An hugely entertaining evening with poet Ian McMillan, baritone Martin Le Poidevin and guitarist/lutenist Mark Willcocks. John Rutter's song cycle Shadows sets (often rather racy!) words from the Elizabethan period, which is matched by Dowland's equally racy and melancholy popular songs. Ian McMillan's tweets (set by Richard Barnard in his Early Stroll Songs, receiving their world premiere in this concert) are deft, ingenious and colourful. PLUS! Ian McMillan will be live on stage, performing more of his own poetry. ACE funded
