Programme Note
Exultate Singers heads to South America in advance of the Rio 2016 Olympics for this year’s ever-popular Sense of the Divine concert featuring a wide variety of choral music across the ages from Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Bolivia.
Beautiful sonorous 17th century polyphony combine with arrangements of lively and energetic folk songs and dances such as the samba, tango and malambo. The 100th anniversary of the birth of Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera is marked by a performance of his Lamentations of Jeremiah, a dramatic and passionate folk-inspired work for unaccompanied choir.
The choir is joined by the renowned classical guitarist Craig Ogden, and the virtuoso cellist Richard May who will perform music by Villa Lobos, Piazzolla and Gnattali.
Don’t miss this toe-tapping choral carnival!
