Programme Note
Every year at the end of May St George's Singers go on tour with an enormously varied and ever expanding repertoire of delightful shorter pieces of music both sacred and secular and ranging from Renaissance to contemporary. For their final concert of this season they have decided to share this year's programme for the tour to Bruges with their home audience in Poynton in the comfortable and intimate venue of St George’s Church.
The wide ranging programme includes works by Byrd, Monteverdi, Handel, Brahms, Stanford, Elgar, Rachmaninov, Finzi and more. In a lighter vein, there are modern arrangements of traditional songs such as Gift to be Simple, Steal Away and Teddy Bear’s picnic. There is something for everyone on this concert!
