Programme Note

Rediscovering Bach is a series of festivals to relaunch the London Bach Society post Covid-19. This year there is a focus on the year 1724  to mark the 300th anniversary of Bach's second cycle (1724-1725), known as the chorale-based cycle. This opening concert is also being presented on Reformation Festival Day and the foundation of the Lutheran Church, which Bach served all his life. The spendid and festive Cantata BWV 80 sums up the joy of the occasion and BWV 62 (Leipzig December 1724).a fine example from his second cycle, Leipzig December 1724.

Rodolfo Richter, director
