Programme Note
While still a student at the Royal Academy of Music, to which she won a scholarship, Alinka Rowe already has a busy career as a soloist and chamber musician.
Aged 15 she became principal viola of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, a position she held for two years, and she has won several prizes, including last year the Wilfred Parry Brahms Prize at the Royal Academy, which she entered in 2017. She has performed as a soloist at the Royal Festival Hall and St John's, Smith Square, and has taken part in chamber music festivals in Britain, Italy and France; in 2018 she was chosen to attend the annual International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, in Cornwall, at which talented young players are given master classes by distinguished professionals, and was subsequently invited to join the IMS's Open Chamber Music sessions. Later this year she will make her first appearances at the Wigmore Hall and King's Place, in chamber music recitals.
As an orchestral player Alinka has worked under numerous eminent conductors, including Sir Mark Elder and Vasily Petrenko, and has appeared at the Proms, the RFH, the Sage, Gateshead and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, among leading venues.
