Programme Note

The Nash Ensemble returns to Chipping Campden with a programme bringing together elements that define this unique group. A trailblazing beacon of British music since its formation over 60 years ago, they present music by Benjamin Britten (celebrating 50 years since his death), Elizabeth Machonchy’s wonderful clarinet quintet (written in the same year as the Ensemble was founded, 1964) and finishing with Beethoven’s Septet, one of many masterpieces forming the core of the Nash repertoire.
