Programme Note
Pro Corda: The Human Story of Chamber Music.
Pro Corda is a music school like no other. It trains young musicians from aged 8 upwards in the art of playing chamber music. But its belief is that chamber music is so much more than an instrumental or performance skill. Pro Corda believes that it is a way of life, a way of communicating, a way of living, a way of growing. Pro Corda’s many educational programmes serve hundreds of young people across the UK, including a flagship programme for children with disabilities and other additional needs – all drawing on the core principles of chamber music.
Tonight’s showcase tells the story of Pro Corda from its youngest students through to those who are now training to be tomorrow’s chamber music educators, through to some of the UK’s leading classical performers whose lives have been shaped by chamber music. It is the story of chamber music at the heart of lives, not just on the concert platform.
With such a universal mission to bring chamber music directly to people’s lives across all sections of society, Pro Corda is ever more reliant on its scholarship fund. All proceeds from this showcase will go directly to the Pro Corda scholarship fund to enable those who cannot afford course fees to access this unique and exceptional training.”
Audiences will be treated to an uplifting, entertaining and informative musical evening.
