Experience a romantic, candlelit evening with a selection of the world’s greatest classical music in the gorgeous St James’s Piccadilly. The concert features timeless works by the monumental composers Chopin, Handel, Bach and Vivaldi. The Piccadilly Sinfonietta is one of the UK’s most exciting young ensembles. Founded in 2018, the ensemble has performed in halls throughout the UK and exists to perform the world’s greatest classical music in the UK’s most historic venues. The concert features breath-taking feats of virtuosity from Matthew Jones in Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Warren Mailley-Smith in Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto. Described by ‘Fanfare’ Magazine as ‘the finest violist since William Primrose’, Matthew Jones enjoys a diverse career, equally at home as soloist or chamber musician performing classical or contemporary repertoire or giving fully improvised concerts. Recent performance venues include London’s Wigmore Hall and South Bank and a critically acclaimed Carnegie Hall recital debut in 2008. He is violist of The Bridge Duo, the Debussy Ensemble and the Instrumental Quintet of London. Matt has a Maths degree from the University of Warwick and is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Warren Mailley-Smith is the first British pianist to perform all Chopin’s piano works from memory in a series of recitals hailed by the critics as an “epic achievement”. He has given acclaimed solo recitals at The Wigmore Hall and Carnegie Hall and has played for the British Royal Family on many occasions. He is a popular soloist on the London concert scene, throughout the UK and abroad and as a guest artist on several of the world’s most famous cruise liners, His concerto debut was with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His CDs have been featured by Classic FM as CD of the Week and are played regularly on Classic FM and the BBC. “Stunning” - Classic FM.
