She made her debut as soloist at the age of sixteen with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, less than two years after she began her piano studies in the Dubrovnik Luka Sorkocevic School of Arts. Since then, she has been re-invited by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra on multiple occasions, including a performance of Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 at the age of seventeen. In May 2011 she performed Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in the Rector’s Palace, to much critical acclaim, resulting in further invitations with this orchestra. Zeljka continued her studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Music where she won the Presern Award for her performance of Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Academy Orchestra. She then studied at Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, where she won the Pianist Prize at the Folkwang Competition and was distinguished with an Advancement Award by Essen’s Lions Club. In 2011 she was accepted into the world-renowned Meisterklasse Lev Natochenny at the Frankfurter Hochschule and performed as soloist with the Slovenian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra. She is currently studying at the Royal College of Music, London for an Artist Diploma with Norma Fisher and working with Arnulf von Arnim in Germany. Zeljka is a RCM Award Holder supported by a Pauline Hartley Award, a protégé of the Gallus Foundation and the Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now Society. Additional master classes with Franz Massinger, Daniel Pollack, Lilly Dorfman and Boris Bloch complete the list of professional influences. Zeljka has earned numerous accolades for her artistry. Most recently, she was featured at the Klavier-Festival-Ruhr, Spring of Mostar Festival, Makarska Summer Festival, Epidaurus Festival Croatia, Euregio Festival, and ISAM Baden Württemberg. She was named the best student of the decade at the Ljubljana Academy by Professor Haas, and was a finalist of the BSI Concours International de Musique competition “Virtuoses du Futur” in 2010, founded by Martha Argerich. She won Second Prize at the International Siegfried Weißhaupt Competition 2014 and she appeared in the Internationale Musiktage Hessen-Hofheim in 2012 for the third time, being awarded 30th Jubilee Bach Prize for her performance. She has given recitals across Europe including the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as concerts and seminars across Lebanon. Zeljka’s performances have been recorded and broadcast for Slovenian Radio and Medjugorje Radio. Her début recording is to be released in Spring 2016. Free recital (retiring collection).
