After months of lockdown you can finally experience a romantic candlelit evening in a socially-distanced, Covid-safe space, with selections of the world's greatest classical music in the atmospheric St. James's Church. The concert features timeless works by the monumental composers Mozart and Vivaldi. If you're in need of a relaxing experience and want to learn more about classical music or simply want to hear virtuosic performances by some of the best musicians in the UK, this concert is just for you.
The Piccadilly Sinfonietta is one of the UK's most exciting young ensembles. Founded in 2018, the ensemble has performed throughout the UK including London, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester. It exists to perform the world's greatest classical music in the UK's most historic venues.
This evening features breathtaking feats of virtuosity from violinist sensation Matthew Jones in Vivaldi's Four Seasons and virtuoso pianist Warren Mailley-Smith in Mozart's Piano Concerto No.12 in A major.
Award-winning pianist Warren Mailley-Smith has performed many times for the British Royal Family and recently became the first British pianist to perform Chopin's complete piano works from memory. An exceptional talent and a self-deprecating sense of humour, combined with his formidable technical skill and mature musicality, makes him a favourite with audiences.
Matthew Jones is a violinist and composer primarily known for his international performances as a solist, recitalist and chamber musician. He is Professor and Head of Chamber Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
