Brahms and The Great Romantics, by Candlelight

Add to my Calendar 28-01-2022 19:30 28-01-2022 21:30 36 Brahms and The Great Romantics, by Candlelight The popular Piccadilly Chamber Music Series is delighted to present five candlelit concerts from January to July 2022 at St James’ Piccadilly, exploring the chamber music of Johannes Brahms alongside music of other great romantic composers who influenced this towering genius, or who were influenced by Brahms himself. Our launch concert features one of the most seminal works in this genre: Beethoven’s early and brilliant Piano Trio No. 1. This is paired with Brahms’ Piano Trio Op 1, highlighting the romantic expansiveness which Brahms brought to the form.  Despite their differences, both works are filled with soaring melodies and youthful exuberance. Sandwiched in between is Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s expressive Piano trio in E minor, a much neglected but highly original work evoking the strong influence of the Brahms’. The spectacular violinist, Victoria Sayles is in huge demand international for her intensely musical playing and is joined by the brilliant cellist Victoria Simonsen and concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith in this enthralling programme. Set in the heart of London’s West End, The Piccadilly Chamber Music Series provides an exciting new platform for some of the UK’s most outstanding musicians and a new opportunity for Londoners to hear some of the world’s greatest chamber music masterpieces performed in an inspiring setting.     Each concert provides a unique opportunity for audiences to hear some of the UK’s greatest musicians in concert with each other in displays of enormous virtuosity and sublime calmness!
