Programme Note

Helix Ensemble returns to St John's Church, Beeston on Saturday 28th June at 7.30pm for a brilliant concert directed by Adam Summerhayes, virtuosic violinist and composer of two works in the concert. Short works by Vaughan-Williams and Honegger lead to the nine movement suite Pelleas and Melisande by Sibelius that he originally wrote as incidental music for a play.

In the second half of the concert there are two world premieres; a chance to hear Adam perform his second violin concerto, titled 'Boiled in Lead', of which he wrote 'it should be very dancy, folky and fun', and before that a work also written by Adam which is a setting of a poem 'Hunger and the Swan', with words spoken by the poet, Jessie Summerhayes.

We are looking forward to learning these new works and bringing you a wonderful mix of music.  I do hope you will be able to join us.
