Programme Note

Winner of the St Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition 2019, the Brompton Quartet is known for its engaging and dynamic performances. Recent highlights include a debut at the Wigmore Hall and Turner Sims, Southampton, an appearance on BBC Radio 3 ‘In Tune’ with violist Lawrence Power and being selected as a Park Lane Group Artist.

They pick up where the previous concert in the festival left off with more late Beethoven: his majestic Bb Major quartet. The evening opens with Haydn's joyous C Major quartet, followed by Caroline Shaw's Entr'acte, itself inspired by Haydn.
