Mad Song are a dynamic ensemble of "expert young players" (The Observer) who specialise in performances of 20th and 21st century music. Founded in 2019 they have become renowned for their committed performances, particularly of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King, which they have performed around the UK. Their performance at the Aberystwyth Festival was lauded for its 'brutality and raw energy' (David Campbell) and their playing has been described as ‘beyond praise’ (Seen & Heard International). Jonathan Eyers is a baritone from the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, based in London, UK. Jonathan was awarded Third Prize at the 2024 Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition. He is an Oxford Song Young Artist, a City Music Foundation Artist, a Britten-Pears Young Artist, and a founding member of Whānau Voices. Recent song performance highlights include recitals at St Martin-in-the-fields and the Armourers’ Hall, the Oxford International Song Festival, the London Song Festival, and recording Detlev Glanert’s Gesang des Achill for BBC Radio 3. Passionate about contemporary music, this year Jonathan premiered new song works by Daniel Davis, Emily Hazrati, Nathan Williamson, and Luka Venter.  St John the Baptist Church, London DD/MM/YYYY
