Programme Note
To put you in the mood our concert will start with Rimsky-Korsakov's exciting Capriccio espagnol, followed by Liadov's reflective The Enchanted Lake and Borodin's thrilling Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor. The second half opens with Britten's Matineés musicales, inspired by the music of Rossini, Delius' The Walk to "The Paradise Garden" from 'A Village Romeo and Juliet', the Grand March from Verdi's Aïda, and ending with seasonal music by Johann Strauss the Elder and by Johann Strauss the Younger, conducted by James Ross.
