This piece will be complemented by a challenging Stabat Mater by the Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt, J.S. Bach’s Fürchte Dich Nicht, a funeral motet for double choir, John Tavener’s sprawling setting of the Orthodox text Svyati and another liturgical piece by the contemporary Ukrainian composer Galina Grigorjeva, In Paradisum. The Lea Singers will be joined by the Camerata Quintet and organ for a performance of Faure’s Requiem, one of his most celebrated choral pieces that features some of the most beautiful melodies he composed.
