Programme Note
Under the direction of Toby Bathurst, the Kamiak High School Band will be performing a unique and exciting concert at St John's Smith Square on Monday 9th April 2018 at 7:30pm. The band, hailing from Mukilteo, WA, has previously marched in many high-profile events such as President Bill Clinton's Inauguration Parade in Washington DC, and the St Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin. The concert is part of their Spring Break tour, during which they will also perform in front of City Hall on Sunday 8th April. Their concert will be opened by the NYJO Academy Big Band (NABB) led by Sebastiaan De Krom. The NABB features some of London’s best emerging young jazz talent, and has previously performed at the Royal Albert Hall and the Vortex Jazz Club.
All proceeds from the St John's Smith Square concert will support Music in Hospitals & Care. The charity's mission is to improve the quality of life for adults and children with all kinds of illness and disability through the joy of live music, arranging community performances in hospitals, hospices, day care centres, special schools and care homes.
Tickets cost £10 (concessions £6), and are available to book via telephone (£2.75 transaction fee on 020 7222 1061) or on the website: www.sjss.org.uk (£1.75 transaction fee).
