Programme Note

Whitehall Choir is joined by the period instrument ensemble London Baroque Sinfonia and a line-up of rising star soloists in Handel's Messiah. Mezzo-soprano Anna Harvey, who now enjoys a glittering international opera career, delighted audience and choir when she sang here with Whitehall in the Bach B minor Mass six years ago.

Perfectly capturing the mystery, drama, joy, sorrow and spirituality of Christ's life, death and resurrection, Messiah is one of the best-loved works in the choral canon, and with good reason! Continuing its two-decade exploration of Handel oratorios at St John’s Smith Square, Whitehall Choir looks forward to turning to his most celebrated work in what promises to be a thrilling performance.

Joanna Tomlinson, Music Director
