Programme Note

Whitehall Choir returns to St John’s Smith Square for a performance of Bach St John Passion in the run up to Easter. They are joined by period ensemble, London Baroque Sinfonia, and top soloists.

First performed on Good Friday in 1724 in Leipzig’s Nikolaikirche, the St John Passion is one of the greatest masterworks of sacred choral music. From the complex and dramatic to the most sublime and heartrending moments, this is an evening not to be missed.
