Programme Note
The 'Poets Corner' avenues in Bath's Bear Flat neighbourhood celebrate the poetry of Shakespeare, Shelley, Byron, Chaucer, Milton, Longfellow and Kipling.
In this concert, Cappella Nova explore musical settings of poems by these same poets. Music ranges from Milton’s words in Hubert Parry's Blest Pair of Sirens through Edward Elgar’s setting of Byron’s Deep in My Soul, to John Rutter’s jazz-inspired settings of words by Shakespeare, and some newly commissioned music. This will be an evening of words and music to inspire, enlighten and enjoy!
