Programme Note
Our last concert of the season, accompanied by piano and drums, promises to be a lively one. Rutter gets us off to a flying start with a set of spirituals in Feel the Spirit. "The Swingle Singers" vocal group was renown for arrangements of classics with a jazz influence, and we sing some of these tonight, including arrangements by our director Nick Austin, and a previous director, Janet Lincé. Finally we take a lighthearted look at chronicles of the adventures of Noah. Joseph Horovitz composed Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo to tell the story taken from Genesis in the Bible, abetted by Michael Flanders who adapted the words.
