Programme Note

What does an AI bot say about the pieces in the Erato Orchestra’s 2nd March concert? “Lively dances, strong rhythms, clear textures, a catchy main theme, playful, fast and energetic, a rousing conclusion, a beautiful and enjoyable work, a vehicle that showcases the versatility of the oboe, lyrical melodies"…….. What more could we add?…….Erato performed Haydn’s Philosopher in 1990, 1999 and 2005 and the Mercury in 1999, 2005, and 2014 so are very much looking forward to getting reacquainted with these lovely symphonies. Driving the vehicle that showcases the versatility of the oboe will be Rhea Jo a Purcell School student. Do join us getting to know Sibelius’ Suite Champêtre for the first time. A charming and delightful work for strings that is inspired by the Finnish countryside.
