Programme Note
Still buzzing with the excitement of performing to a live audience, Epsom Chamber Choir reaches a hand across the channel for its next spring concert at St Martin’s Church, Epsom on 26th March and everyone is bienvenu!
France is represented by Debussy’s delightful Trois Chansons along with music by Saint-Saëns, Poulenc and Lili Boulanger, while two movements from Debussy’s Petite Suite piano duet will provide an enjoyable contrast to the choral sound.
The UK counters with Vaughan Williams’ magnificent G Minor Mass and Stanford’s Magnificat in Bb Op 164 - a rare opportunity to hear a choral gem. A cheeky swift detour over the Swiss border for Frank Martin’s Full Fathom Five draws together French and English culture.
Chairman Nic Ash says: “Not only are we excited to sing together again but clearly audiences have also been eager to hear live music. Our concerts in October and at Christmas drew some of our largest audiences to date and I would encourage people to buy tickets in advance and get a discount.”
There will be an interval where refreshments will be served.
