EPSOM CHAMBER CHOIR TAKES A MUSICAL JOURNEY
Epsom Chamber Choir is asking its audience to leap aboard their time machine and join them on an intriguing Polyphonic Journey.
Focusing on polyphonic music – interweaving lines of independent melody - their October concert will present music from the earliest plainsong to present-day composers including Roderick Williams and their very own Helen Williams. On the way they will visit Josquin des Prez, Byrd, Tallis and another contemporary composer, Roxanna Panufnik. The concert will culminate with Imogen Holst’s beautiful Mass in A minor.
“An authentic updating of sacred music can take place only in the lineage of the great tradition of the past, of Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony.” Pope Benedict XVI
Epsom Chamber Choir is one of Surrey’s leading chamber choirs. Directed by Mark Biggins, it performs regularly at St Martin’s Church, Epsom where the excellent acoustics make the most of the choir’s superb sound.
