Add to my Calendar 28-03-2023 19:30 28-03-2023 21:30 36 Hidden Gems - violin, flute and piano recital from London's top players! The idea of this concert series «Hidden Gems» derived from the stature of St Mary Le Strand itself. Right in the heart of the city’s most vibrant district, it is still quite hidden and surprisingly lesser-known than it should be. Violinist Anna Ovsyanikova, who has a personal connection with the church, regularly performs as soloist and recitalist as well as an orchestral musician, working with orchestras such as Royal Opera House and BBC Concert Orchestra. She is also doing a PhD at the Royal College of Music, where she’s researching the legacy of a virtually unknown composer Mathieu Crickboom. Together with her colleagues - top freelance London musicians - she brings a unique programme of unusual but brilliant classical music pieces, hidden gems, together with some well-loved music. There is music by female composers Amy Beach, Fanny Mendelssohn and Chiquinha Gonzaga, Georgian composer Vaja Azarashvili, and some better known composers like Medtner and Olivier Messiaen.
