Most of the Golden Age tango is unknown outside of Argentina itself.Tango came of age as a worldwide phenomenon in the person of one extraordinary man:Astor Piazzolla. Initially an outcast from his homeland, Piazzolla blended New York jazz, Argentine música folclórica and tango, creating Tango Nuevo – a new style of dance music to which people had to sit and listen! With his death in 1992 a tidal wave of Latin passion was unleashed, sweeping the world as converts were drawn into the power and lyricism of his unforgettable music.
