Programme Note
Ipswich Choral Society mark Remembrance weekend with a concert featuring two requiem masses. The sublime and deeply moving Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and the contempoary, atmospheric Requiem by John Rutter. The performance will be conducted by Robin Walker, ICS Music Director and accompanied on the organ by William Baldry.
This concert will be dedicated to June Catling, a dear friend to Ipswich Choral Society who worked tirelessly fundraising for the choir, who sadly passed away in September 2022. June's association with the choir began in September 1984 when her husband joined the choir and she helped out with the Christmas Coffee morning. This started a partnership with the choir that lasted until 2020. Having raised thousands of pounds for the choir, June was made a life member of Ipswich Choral Society to mark her dedication and achievements, even though she didn't actually sing! June will be missed by many within the choir.
