Fluent in the newly-emerged musical language of the early Baroque which strove to move the emotions and gave rise to opera, these composers were able also to use it to touch the spirit, as illustrated in their glorious settings of Latin texts for 1 to 3 voices. The ideal acoustic of the Magdalen Chapel will allow sopranos Jane Hunt, Philippa Neaverson and Maria Danishvar-Wilson, accompanied by Din Ghani on archlute continuo, to make the most of this music.
