Programme Note
Lewisham Choral Society joins forces with exciting young vocal ensemble Vox Next Gen to perform a sizzling selection of music for a summer’s evening. The centrepiece of LCS’s programme is an all-time choral favourite, Vivaldi’s lively Gloria. We also showcase outstanding choral works from across the centuries from 17th century Monteverdi to 21st century Eric Whitacre. Talented young artists Vox Next Gen’s programme also spans the years, from the legendary 11th century Hildegard von Bingen to award-winning contemporary composer Kerensa Briggs.
Lewisham Choral Society is one of London’s foremost community choirs. We perform regularly at major London venues and have toured abroad to France, Germany and The Netherlands.
Vox Next Gen participate in a choral training and mentoring programme for emerging artists, run by the professional vocal ensemble Vox Urbane.
Our music director Dan Ludford-Thomas enjoys a busy schedule as a conductor, chorus master and singing teacher. He directs a wide variety of choirs including LCS, Hackney Singers and The National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, and is Principal Conductor of Vox Urbane. He performs regularly at major concert venues across the country.
Our talented accompanist, Lucy Morrell, is the head of Academic Music and College organist at Dulwich College. She is also an organist at HM Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. Lucy was previously Organ Scholar at St Mary's, Warwick and at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle and performs regularly around the UK.
