Add to my Calendar 05-07-2019 19:30 05-07-2019 21:30 36 Triptych: Animal Passions The three musicians of Triptych - pianist Christopher Weston, saxophonist/composer Jeffery Wilson, and soprano Catherine May  - made their debut as a group at last year’s Thaxted Festival. They reunite along with special guest, baritone and Festival Director Colin Baldy, for this eclectic programme, a veritable menagerie of animal-related music by composers ranging from Couperin to Poulenc via Schubert, Gerswhin, and a host of others.  Christopher brings us musical depictions of a bumblebee, fish leaping in the sunlight, a butterfly, and even a midge (as well as offering a French take on Latin and South American dances). Jeffery takes a dog for a walk, while Nightingales feature prominently in Catherine May’s song selection, and, not to be outdone, Colin offers entire bestiaries.  And tortoises and hares are there somewhere too.
