Programme Note
The Handful presents a festive programme that centres around two major works, both depicting colourful scenes from the nativity story: four movements from Ringeltänze by Libby Larsen, written in 1983, and Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël written by Francis Poulenc in 1951-52.
The concert will also feature choral favourites together with some wonderful new discoveries (fast becoming a feature of Handful programmes!) by a diverse cross-section of composers from the UK to the USA, from Europe to Africa, and from the 16th century to the present day.
The Handful is delighted to be joined by the talented music students of Prior Park College for this concert as part of its ongoing commitment to working with young musicians in the local community.
The Handful has enjoyed an enviable reputation as one of the most exciting, vibrant and adventurous chamber choirs in and around Bath. From small beginnings in 2002, it has grown in size and stature, continuing on its path as a forward-looking choir, enthralling audiences with its fine sound and imaginative programming.
