Programme Note

The Handful’s second concert with new Music Director Tomos Watkins at the helm couples the ever-popular Fauré Requiem with Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, both featuring the acclaimed baritone soloist Robert Rice. Bath Abbey Organist Emeritus Peter King joins us for the Fauré and for Jonathan Dove’s Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars. Arvo Pärt’s Which was the son of completes the programme.

How A Handful of Singers became The Handful...A Handful of Singers has enjoyed an enviable reputation as one of the most exciting, vibrant and adventurous chamber choirs in Bath and beyond. Founded in 2002 by a small group of experienced singers, the choir took its original name from what was, literally, 'a handful of singers'.  Since then the choir has grown in size and stature. This represents a new era for the choir, always looking forward, enthralling audiences with imaginative and explorative programming, always seeking to leave them captivated.

“This fine choir is arguably the best secular choir in Bath…very impressive” Peter King (organ)
