Musicke in the Ayre

Programme Note

Musicke in the Ayre conclude their 2025 concert series at St Mary’s Bathwick with this programme of some of their favourite solos and duets from England, France and Italy during the 16th and 17th centuries. The imagery of nymphs and shepherds frolicking in an Arcadian wilderness was much favoured by the poets of the period who used it to elaborate on the pleasures and pains of love.
Din Ghani will accompany Jane Hunt and Philippa Neaverson in songs mostly composed by Court composers such as Caccini and Frescobaldi in Italy, Robert Johnson and William Lawes and English, and Lambert and Boesset in France.
Performance will be in the Church Hall.
Refreshments available before and after the concert.
Tickets £12 at the door, or £11 in advance.
