A chamber performance of Messiah as the composer would have intended: 14 singers, step-out soloists, and a period orchestra.
Experience Handel's Messiah exactly as the composer intended.
Modern performances of Messiah differ vastly from the ones that Handel himself would have known and instigated.
In the twentieth century, it became commonplace for large choral societies to perform this work with equally large orchestras (the rendition popularised by the likes of Sir Thomas Beecham). In contrast, tonight's performance delivers the intimacy and immediacy that Handel intended.
The Tallis Choral Foundation brings sixteen of the nation's finest young singers to perform this glorious work, alongside the period instruments of Baroque in the North. Featuring harpsichord continuo, period timpani, trumpets, and step-out soloists from within the chorus, this will be an incredible evening not to miss.
