Programme Note
The EMFF Prequel Concert takes place on Tuesday 4th December 2018 at St Mary’s Church in South Ealing and will showcase the work of Europe’s best composers from Strauss and Mahler to Mozart, alongside music from Gershwin’s English-language opera Porgy and Bess.
The highly esteemed performers on the night, who return following their success at the 2018 Festival, are soprano Gweneth-Ann Rand, who represented England in the 2001 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, bass-baritone Keel Watson, who also plays trombone to a professional standard and has a budding film career, accompanied by Julian Gallant, who is a well-known pianist, composer and conductor, as well as the Artistic Director of EMFF.
This concert is set to whet audience appetites for the full festival, which will take place from 13th to 17th February 2019, highlighting performances by International Violin Virtuoso Tasmin Little and 2018 BBC Musician of the Year Lauren Zhang; full programme details to follow soon.
